How To Care For Your Beeswax
-
1. Trim the wick
Trim the wick to 1/4" before every burn. Trimming the wick increases the lifespan of your candle, prevents smoke and soot, and helps you avoid candle tunneling. Proper candle care requires a consistent trimming routine. Keep the top and surface of the candle clear from debris by using a damp cloth to wipe away dust and debris.
-
2. Minimum burn time
Pillar Candles
The first time you burn your candle is called the memory burn. Allow the wax pool to reach the edge of the candle before you extinguish the flame to prevent tunneling. Pillar candles are meant to burn for longer periods of time. Burn for 3-4 hours each time after the memory burn. After extinguishing the flame, hug the candle by gently pressing the warm wax towards the wick to encourage even burning and get the most burn time out of the wax. If you are looking for a shorter burn, try a taper candle. Tea lights are meant to be enjoyed in one session. -
3. Putting out your candle
To put out your beeswax candle safely and without smoke, you can dunk the wick into the wax pool using a wick dipper or other long straight object. Once the flame is extinguished, use the dipper to return the wick to an upright position. Blowing out a candle can cause the wax to splatter or introduce debris into the wax.
-
4. Safety
Never leave burning candles unattended. Keep burning candles away from children and pets. Never move a candle while it is burning or the wax is still liquid. Always light candles on a fireproof candle holder.
-
5. Bloom
Bloom is a white powdery or cloudy film that forms on the surface of beeswax. It is a sign of quality and authenticity, indicating that the candle is made of 100% pure beeswax. You can leave bloom or gently buff with a soft cloth to remove it.
Why Burn Beeswax?
-
1. Clean burning
Beeswax candles offer a natural, clean burning alternative to modern candles. They emit little to no soot and contain no artificial fragrances or toxins, helping to keep indoor air cleaner and healthier.
-
2. Longer burning time
Beeswax candles burn longer than most other types of candles, thanks to their dense natural wax. With a slow, steady flame, they provide warm, lasting light-making them a more efficient and sustainable choice for your home.
-
3. Natural fragrance
Beeswax candles have a naturally subtle, honey scent, free from artificial fragrances. Their warm comforting aroma comes straight from the hive, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere in any space.
-
4. Environmentally friendly
Beeswax candles are an eco-friendly choice, made from a renewable resource with no added toxins or chemicals. They burn cleanly, produce minimal waste, and support sustainable beekeeping, making them a natural way to light your home while caring for the planet.
-
5. Negative ion emission
Beeswax candles naturally release negative ions when burned, which helps neutralize pollutants like dust, mold, and odours in the air. This can improve air quality, creating a fresher and healthier environment in your home.
